Kununurra Netball Association is set for the 2021 North-West Championships after being awarded a $20,000 Woolworths grant.

The grant will allow for multiple junior teams to fly to Karratha, giving more participants the opportunity to compete against other Associations and benchmark their skills against other players around the state.

The North-West Championships offers regional participants the opportunity to be talent identified by Netball WA and enter the athlete pathway.

Kununurra Netball Association President, Vanessa Jenkins said it means the world to have been awarded this grant.

“North-West Champs is a once a year opportunity for our players to participate at a higher level of competition, have the opportunity to be selected as part of the North-West regions athlete talent identification pathway and the possibility to represent the region at state level competitions,” said Jenkins.

“Opportunities like these are beneficial to our participants both on and off the court. It develops them as young adults, leaders and netballers, which additionally has positive impacts on the community.”

Kununurra Netball Association has participated in the competition for the last six years, missing only one year due to logistical challenges of taking athletes to Newman.

In 2021 Kununurra will be able to take multiple teams; something almost impossible in previous years.
