This year’s NAIDOC ball has been flying around courts all over the State; including GIG WANL First Nations Round, the Busselton NAIDOC Carnival, the Multicultural Carnival and at today’s Boorloo NAIDOC Carnival Presented by Fortescue.
The 2025 artwork was designed by Noongar woman Tieralee Johns who has played netball for more than 25 years.
Like many people in the Netball WA community, Johns credits netball for the connection it brings, reflected in her artwork.
She has played at the Boorloo NAIDOC Carnival since she was a young girl and being able to see her artwork alongside her family and friends on 500 netballs all across Western Australia means a great deal to her.
The intent behind the design is to represent all First Nations players, the red symbolises those coming from the North, blue for the coastal mid-west players and Green for Booja land representing the Great Southern region.
Belt Up is the Insurance Commission’s road safety awareness campaign to promote the use of seatbelts on WA roads to reduce the severity of injury in the event of a crash.
Every year, almost one hundred people are killed or seriously injured in car crashes in Western Australia while not wearing seat belt. That could be your teammate, your friend, your brother or your sister. The Insurance Commission wants to reduce these numbers by putting the Belt Up message directly in the hands of the netball community.
