The State Umpire Performance Program provides elite pathway umpires with access to WA’s premier netball competition, the Gold Industry Group (GIG) West Australian Netball League (WANL) and focuses on their individual growth and progression through the Netball Australia and Netball WA umpire pathways. Opportunities to receive education, high performance coaching, skill development and performance umpiring opportunities are offered within the program.
The State Umpire Performance Program focuses on building a safe, supportive and professional ‘team’ culture while inspiring umpires to fulfil their potential and fostering a mindset of being role models within the greater netball umpiring community.

The Fever in Time Program supports the development of identified umpires and provides opportunities to experience a higher level of umpiring education, umpire coaching and match-play and assist umpires on their journey through the Netball WA Umpiring Pathway.
The Program will be focused on the individual growth of developing umpires and fostering a mindset of being leaders within the netball umpiring community.

The program will run from August to October culminating with all athletes and umpires competing at State Cup.

State Cup is Netball WA’s premier pathway development competition and is a viewing platform for Gold Industry Group WANL clubs and the State Umpire Performance Program.

Green Shirt Program

Netball WA is pleased to invite Associations to register for the Green Shirt Program (GSP).

The GSP is a beginner umpiring initiative, endorsed by Netball WA (NWA), designed to help new umpires kickstart their umpiring journey at the grassroots level.
Key features of the program include:

Comprehensive Training: Combining theoretical learning and practical on-court experience, the program aligns with the National Learning System, ensuring consistency with national standards and seamless integration into the National Umpire Accreditation System.
Supportive Coaching: Each participant is paired with an umpire coach who provides guidance and feedback, helping them consolidate their knowledge and refine their umpiring techniques.
Implemented at Local Associations: Training resources are delivered through local coaches and facilitated by associations and clubs, creating an environment where umpires can develop their skills while contributing to the local umpire workforce.

Pathway to Development: By participating in the program, beginner umpires are equipped to advance along the umpiring pathway, supported by a strong network that values and fosters the growth of umpiring within the community.

New resources to assist with the facilitation of the GSP, along with the opportunity for Associations to nominate umpires for ‘Green Shirt Umpire of the month,’ will be provided exclusively to those registered in the program.

Upon registration, each Association will be required to nominate a ‘Program Coordinator’. This individual will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of the program and complete the administrative paperwork. Your NWA Regional Umpire Coordinator will provide support and guidance to the Program Coordinator to assist with the program’s delivery.

The Green Shirt Umpiring Program provides a valuable opportunity for umpires to develop their skills, confidence, and knowledge in a supportive environment. By offering this program, Associations can build a confident and competent umpiring workforce, ultimately strengthening the overall capacity within their Clubs and Associations.

NWA recommends that participants wear a GSP uniform to distinguish them and highlight that they are learning the craft of umpiring. GSP shirts can be purchased from the NWA Website
