One of Australia’s most decorated international umpires and umpire coaches Sharon Kelly will headline the umpiring section of the Netball WA Coach and Umpire Conference in December.

Kelly was awarded the Netball Australia Umpire of the Year 13 times and was the recipient of the International Umpire Award as part of a career which spanned more than 100 International Test Matches, five Commonwealth Games and four World Championships.

The Conference will provide an opportunity to gain insights into the skills and techniques of being a Pathway umpire as well as a sneak peak of the updated 2024 Rules of Netball Rule book and its interpretations.

Netball WA Performance & Pathway Senior Officials Coordinator Krista Stirling said the conference would provide an opportunity for umpires to connect with one of our most decorated international umpires/umpire coaches.

“The Conference will be a great event for any umpire in WA to listen and learn from one of Australia’s most experienced umpire coaches,” Stirling said.

“Netball WA is excited to be able to provide an opportunity for umpires across WA to gain insights and knowledge about current trends and techniques that they can take away and use for their own umpiring development.”

The Conference will focus on two key topics: Fundamental Umpiring Skills and Techniques for Umpires and 2024 Rules of Netball Update – Q&A.
