West Coast Fever has announced its 2024 Academy Squad which will include two male athletes, highlighting the Club’s commitment to growing Boys and Men’s Netball.

The Academy provides a holistic approach to athletes in a high-performance environment and provides further opportunity for athlete development, underpinned by the Club’s partnership with the West Australian Institute of Sport, Netball WA and Netball Australia.

The Club is committed to inspiring the next generation of WA athletes and take netball to place it hasn’t been before.

West Coast Fever Talent Coach Guy Keane said West Coast Fever would continue to build on the success of the 2023 program.

“We are aiming to nurture and grow the talent of tomorrow through evolution in High Performance pathways,” Keane said.

“Through connected pathways, we will support the aspiring athletes to achieve their goals and empower them to succeed at the highest representative level. Exposing them to different environments and performance level to help inspire them to take the next step on their netball journey.”

The program will support nationally categorised athletes, including those selected to play in the Western Australia 17/U and 19/U squads at the National Netball Championships and the West Coast Fever Reserves, competing at the national level in the Australian Netball Championships.

Male athletes Connor Rawling and Max Denholm from West Coast Thunder and Western Roar form part of the 19-person squad.

“As a former State and National Men’s Netballer, it’s exciting to support the development of the Men’s game bridging the gap to prepare the next generation of Men’s netballers for future selection as West Coast Fever Men’s training partners and Australian Kelpies,” Keane said.
