Garbin’s win comes off the back of a sensational domestic season with the Melbourne Vixens and a strong International year with the Origin Australian Diamonds.
Although the Diamonds weren’t able to secure the Constellation Cup, Garbin shone bright in the final Test Match, when she shot 36 goals at 100 per cent accuracy.
Similar efforts throughout the year also landed Garbin International Player of the Year, making her the seventh Diamond in the last decade to win both awards.
Two West Coast Fever athletes were named in the Suncorp Super Netball Team of the Year. Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard was named Goal Shooter, whiule WA athlete Sunday Aryang took the coveted Goal Defence position.
In its Inaugural year, the Dr Eve Fels First Nations Black Swan Award was presented to Yaruwu woman Scarlet Jauncey for her incredible efforts in the Inaugural First Nations Black Swans National team.
Jauncey, who is heavily involved in the Netball WA pathways, including her 19/U State team selection and GIG WANL career, has been a fantastic role model for young First Nations athletes.
In recognition of her significant contribution to Australian Netball, WA netball legend Sue Taylor AM was inducted into the Netball Australia Hall of Fame.
Sue has more than 60 years of volunteering experience within netball and adds this award to her long list of achievements including Netball WA Life Membership, and Member of the Order of Australia.
