The 2026 GIG WANL Season has officially kicked off for the Open and 21/U divisions, with upsets across the board.

Warriors 55 defeat Comets 26

The Warriors demonstrated the work they’ve put in over the off season in Round One. Both their new recruits and returning players came out of the gate swinging for a quick lead.

Young Gun defender Ava Buselich was outstanding in her first game as a contracted Open player, finding intercepts with ease.

Warriors continued to build a steady margin, leading by 17 goals at the main break.

Newcomer Warrior Zoe Harper scored a stunning 47 for the match, whilst Scarlet Jauncey down the other end was able to find the rebound.

The reigning premiers fought back with strong defence in the final quarter, but it wasn’t enough to break back into the match.
