Districts Netball Club at RDNA

Districts Netball Club

Based at Rockingham & Districts Netball Association
Metro South Region

Districts Netball Club has been nominated for the Suncorp NetSetGO Centre in the Spotlight as part of the Suncorp NetSetGO Week celebrations. We recognise the hard work and dedication the club has put into their Suncorp NetSetGO program and the impact it has made on the community.

The Club was established just this year and has almost 50 participants in their Suncorp NetSetGO program. The Club was nominated by a member of the community for the hard work of its organisers, establishing a Club when a need for more was recognised in the community and continuing to support its members during a tough 2020.

The Club is being recognised for being the first Net program to be run in the area at the time and also encouraging other clubs to follow their lead. Districts Netball Club has also gained Set and GO teams, allowing the players to train alongside the Under 12's team, helping them to gain confidence in themselves and their abilities.

The following questions were asked of the Club when they were nominated, find out more and read their answers below!

What do you think makes Districts Netball Club stand out from others?

Our club prides themselves on being a supportive community-based Club. Although a newly established Club, we have very quickly managed to recruit some very passionate volunteers and very valuable sponsors.

Collectively as a group we have managed to work closely as a team to set our participants up for success, not only for the coming 2020 season ahead, but for the future of their entire netball experience.

Not only do our volunteers, but our participants all beam with pride at being part of our newly established Club. Our older Junior Division girls are extremely supportive of our Suncorp NetSetGO participants in helping them where possible.

What piece of advice does Districts Netball Club have for any centres thinking of offering Suncorp NetSetGO?

As a Club, recruit passionate volunteers. These volunteers will be the key to your success. Not everything goes smoothly so support them in every step of the journey, be approachable and transparent in your communication.

Netball WA have offered very informative workshops through our Association at RDNA. Our Club and coach’s involvement in these have been a valuable piece of support to our new volunteers, this will be another key to both coach and participant success.

If you’re looking at offering or becoming a Suncorp NetSetGO centre, set yourself a structured plan on what this looks like, involve those around you and ask all the questions.

COVID-19 has certainly thrown a spanner during 2020 for everyone in the wider community, I wish not only our participants but the wider netball communities best of luck for this particularly unique season.
