Member for Churchlands Christine Tonkin MLA was a special guest at Perth Netball Association on Saturday, July 24 to present Belt Up branded netballs to Vice President Libby Woods promoting the importance of wearing seat belts to make local roads safer.
Netball WA and the Insurance Commission of Western Australia have partnered together for eight years to actively promote the Belt Up campaign.
This campaign promotes public awareness about the importance of wearing seat belts and aims to educate the community to minimise the risk of injury from serious motor vehicle accidents.
Through this partnership, more than 6,500 netballs branded with the Belt Up message are distributed each year to clubs in regional and metropolitan WA, benefiting players across the State.
Last year, 98 people who weren’t wearing a seat belt were killed or seriously injured in a crash on WA roads.
