Round 2 of the Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League is set to proceed as scheduled this Sunday, 2 May following Premier Mark McGowan’s announcement of the easing of restrictions.
With the competition initially looking to start last Friday, Netball WA postponed Round 1 after the State Government announced a three-day lockdown in the Perth and Peel regions due to a COVID-19 outbreak.
The Round 1 fixtures will be rescheduled later in the season with a date to be confirmed.
Specific restrictions will apply to netball in the Perth and Peel region until 12.01am on Saturday 1 May:
- Continue wearing a mask in public at all times.
- Netball training and games are permitted without spectators.
- Masks are not required indoors or outdoors for players or umpires, whilst training or playing.
- Coaches and other Team Officials must wear a mask but may remove it when speaking with players.
- Parents can assist/supervise while wearing a mask for U16 sport, but not general spectators.
- Outdoor areas are not subject to the 20-person limit if it is for sporting activities.
- Indoor areas are restricted to 20 persons. If your venue has multiple spaces that can be closed off via either doors, windows or walls you are permitted to have 20 in each indoor space provided that you comply with the 4sqm rule.
- For example: an indoor court can only have a maximum of 20 persons, but your meeting room might be small and only be allowed 6 persons due to the 4sqm rule.
- Training at a school must be approved by the school.
- Clubs must maintain a contact register. If they do not have a Safe WA QR code, a manual register must be used - DOWNLOAD
- All venues must display capacity signage (20 persons maximum or 1 person per 4sqm) for all indoor areas, including club rooms and ablutions.
- All participants are required to provide their own water and there should be no sharing of water bottles.
- Associations and Clubs to contact their venue owners (i.e., local governments) to ensure that no further restrictions apply.
