Netball WA is committed to the growth of Men’s Netball and the addition of Rangers is a positive step forward for the game in WA.
Netball WA Competitions Manager Tracey Swami said the addition of Rangers is great news for the competition and Men’s Netball in WA.
“We look forward to seeing further growth in our GIG WANL Men’s Division over the next couple of years,” Swami said.
“Rangers Netball Club are in a fantastic position to take on a Men’s team, they are one of the longest standing Clubs in the history of this competition. They are a high functioning Club, with great experience at a Board and Coaching level and we are excited to see them expand their great club.”
Rangers President Kate Price said the addition of a Men's team was a fantastic opportunity to continue to grow their club culture with increased diversity of thought and processes.
“We have seen how other clubs increased their performance with men within the Club environment and we are hoping to learn and excel at this,” Price said.
“It’s an exciting time at Rangers and we cannot wait to see the opportunities this provides for our athletes and coaches across all teams on their netball pathways.”
Rangers Head Coach Taryn Barley said she was excited to see some of the up and coming talent in the Men’s competition find a new home at Rangers to pursue their playing pathway.
“Our players are all really excited to have a Men’s team on board, we know they'll bring a lot of energy. Our players have been focussing a lot on growth this season, and bringing in a Men’s team will enable the Club as a whole to continue growth in both the performance and culture space.”
