The Origin Energy Metro League competition brings Friday Night Netball back to the Gold Netball Centre for 2020, starting this Friday evening, 7 February.
The Association representative competition works to bridge the gap between Association Club netball and the Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League.
2019 saw more than 50 teams take part in the pilot competition, with 2020 bringing a 30% increase in participation with 65 teams from both metro and regional associations due to descend on the Gold Netball Centre.
Netball WA’s General Manager of Community Netball, Liz Booth, said the competition allows for an opportunity for WA athletes, coaches and umpires to further develop their game and skills and has already become a valuable step in the athlete, coach and umpire pathways.
“After a successful first year, I am confident that the Origin Energy Metro League will continue to grow and cement itself as one of the strongest competitions of our game across WA,” said Booth.
The Origin Energy Metro League will take place at the Gold Netball Centre and Perth Netball Association every Friday evening across a nine-week period. There are four divisions, Open, 18U, 16U and 14U across two time slots, 6:30pm and 8:00pm. The Gold Netball Centre Kiosk will also be open every week serving refreshments and beverages. Attending the games is free and encouraged.
