The No Limits Netball Program has expanded its footprint across Western Australia to encourage physical participation and positive health and wellbeing outcomes in individuals with an intellectual disability.
The expansion, which has been made possible by a Targeted Participation Program (TPP) Grant from the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and Healthway, will see No Limits participation increase from 110 at seven sites in 2021 to 250 at 10 sites in 2022.
The expansion of the No Limits Netball Program will benefit participants aged over 12 years with an intellectual disability and provide them with the opportunity to interact with others and learn the skills of netball along the way. Participants of the program attend weekly training sessions which advance their social and physical skills.
Excitingly, for the 2022 season, this grant will also mean that clubs which offer the No Limits division will receive additional support from their relevant netball association in the form of umpiring and the opportunity to present a championship team for the Fuel to Go and Play (F2G&P) Association Championships.
In the 2021 F2G&P Association Championships, there were 11 teams which participated in the No Limits division and Netball WA hopes that this year, there will be a greater number of teams involved.
The No Limits Program will also be aided by a partnership with the Western Australia Disabled Sport Association (WADSA) which will assist in the ongoing training and support of staff and participants who are involved.
