Netball Australia has announced a significant shake-up in how community netball is delivered.
Partnering with Melbourne-based sport technology company PlayHQ, the sport will be provided with an intuitive and modern digital experience for administrators and players.
As a result, the current MyNetball registration platform will be retired at the end of this year.
Including Western Australia, the partnership will support implementing a new player registration and competition management platform designed to save time for club and association administrators as well as providing a quick and frictionless registration experience for our players and workforce.
The alliance between Netball Australia and PlayHQ reflects the focus of the business to enhance the experience for participants, administrators and volunteers via technology. As a result, the community will have access to intuitive competition management tools, a modern and mobile-friendly experience, live scoring and a new national remote help and support desk.
The PlayHQ project is a powerful collaboration between community netball volunteers, technology experts and partner State and Territory Member Organisations to ensure the service is fully aligned with the everyday needs of community clubs and associations.
Volunteers and administrators have played a vital role in developing the system by sharing their insights and challenges in administering netball which has helped inform platform design and testing processes.
Netball Australia interim Chief Executive Officer Ron Steiner says the tens and thousands of volunteers and administrators who go above and beyond each week are at the heart of this project.
“The netball community is the lifeblood of our sport, and we’re committed to providing the foundation and support to make it easier for them to deliver programs and competitions around the country.
“Technology continues to play an increasingly important role in the growth of our game, and we’re excited about the functionality of the PlayHQ system to simplify administration and registration tasks that come along with grassroots sport.
“We have the opportunity to give back to our tireless members. We can ease the load and free up their time to focus on what’s really important, enjoying getting involved in their club and helping to connect communities through netball.”
Working with Netball, AFL, Cricket Australia, and Basketball Victoria, PlayHQ is helping to modernize the technology experience within grassroots sporting communities across the country.
PlayHQ CEO Sam Walch is thrilled to be working in partnership with Netball Australia to help change the game at a community level.
“PlayHQ's mission is to unleash the life-changing power of sport at scale. We are building world-class technology that aims to contribute meaningfully to the lives of volunteers, participants and parents, making it easier to stay involved in the games they love. “
“We are laser-focused on ensuring the needs of Australian netball are reflected in our platform design, delivering a robust, simple and modern system that will evolve with the digital demands of the future.”
A robust changeover plan will see the netball community transitioned to the new platform, ready for registrations to open for the 2022 netball season for both competitions and Suncorp NetSetGO.
The MyNetball service will close at the end of December 2021.
