Netball WA has welcomed Premier Mark McGowan’s announcement to ease restrictions by progressing to Phase 4 of the COVID-19 roadmap as of this Saturday, June 27.
Under the new restrictions, the state government has implemented a 2sqm distancing rule and has removed the 100/300 people limit at sporting venues. This is wonderful news for bigger netball associations who were delaying their competition due to waiting on venue exemptions.
Netball WA is still maintaining a cautious approach as our members head back to the courts, by educating all associations and clubs to continue practising the state government’s physical distancing measures as well as maintaining high safety and hygiene practices both on and off the court.
Netball WA CEO, Simon Taylor said: “This is great news for our netball community and has fast-tracked the return for some competitions across this state.”
“Not only is this a welcomed relief for players, but also for parents and family members who will be able to cheer on their children from the sidelines, while abiding by Phase 4 restriction guidelines,” Taylor said.
“I would like to thank the netball community, everyone from volunteers, players, and coaches to club presidents and our staff in the office, for their hard work and patience over the last couple of months.”
After all the changes we’ve endured, we can see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
This weekend four more associations will commence their season; Kalamunda Districts, Joondalup and Noranda along with regional association Karratha.
