This weekend, Netball Western Australia will be running its first of two Developing Talent Challenges for the year. Seven of the Gold Industry Group WA Netball League (GIG WANL) Clubs will be attending, as well as the Regional Academy of Sport Programs (RASP) teams from Mid-West and Great Southern.
The Developing Talent Challenge is a high standard competition for players, coaches, umpires and officials to up-skill and network, supporting the GIG WANL athlete pathway by ensuring the continued player development of all regional and metropolitan participants.
The participating teams are as follows:
RASP TEAMS:
- Great Southern (GSSTA)
- Midwest (MWASP)
GIG WANL TEAMS:
- Curtin Hamersley Comets
- Fins (East Freo Sharks)
- Lightning Bolts (Peel Lightning)
- Demon Academy (Southside Demons)
- Souwest Jets Academy (Souwest Jets)
- Pride (Western Roar)
- Scouts (Rangers)
- Amazons (West Coast Warriors)
Challenge 1 will be played in the regional towns of Katanning and Dongara. Two GIG WANL Clubs have been allocated to play at Dongara, alongside MWASP, whilst five will be allocated to play at Katanning with GSSTA.
Challenge 2 will be played in Perth later in the month.

Times: Saturday 12 March (2:00pm – 5:30pm) - Sunday 13 March (8:30am – 12:00pm)

Location: Katanning - Katanning Leisure and Function Centre
Time: Sunday 13 March (9:30am – 1:30pm)
Participating teams: GSSTA , Demon Academy, Fins, Curtin Hamersley Comets, Souwest Jets Academy, Bolts
Please note: Only parents/guardians and siblings of a child who is participating in the Developing Talent Challenge as a player or official will be permitted to enter the venue as spectators. No other spectators will be permitted. Spectators will also be required to wear masks at all time, check into the venue manually or by using the SafeWA or ServiceWA app, and will be subject to the 2sqm rule capped at 150 persons
