Following the release today of updated State Government COVID-19 directives that will come into effect from 12.01am, Saturday 8 May until 12.01am, Saturday 15 May, Netball WA provides the following details for community netball participants.
- Indoor and outdoor community netball (training and matches) may continue with spectators.
- There will be no requirement throughout community netball to wear a mask unless a venue reaches the capacity of 1000 people.
- For venues with over 1000 people masks are to be worn. Players and umpires will not be required to wear masks whilst playing or umpiring. Substitute players are required to wear a mask whilst on the bench (unless 12 years of age or under). Coaches must wear masks but may remove them whilst speaking to their players.
- Any persons in an unaffected area who have been in the Perth or Peel Regions within the last 14 days, will be required to abide by the above requirements.
- Masks must be worn for West Coast Fever games at RAC Arena, which has been capped at 75% capacity.
Due to the short period of notice, Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League Round 3 fixtures scheduled for this coming weekend remain postponed, with GIG WANL Club Presidents and Netball WA agreeing to recommence the season at Round 4 on Friday, May 14.
The netball community is urged to remain informed via the State Government’s COVID 19 Information and Advice website and continue adhering to all Netball WA hygiene protocols, as well as their COVID Safety Plans.
The extra effort from clubs, players, officials and volunteers to quickly respond to these COVID-19 updates and evolving health advice is greatly appreciated.
Thank you again for your ongoing cooperation and support.
