Dear WA Netball community,
Following today's announcement by Premier Mark McGowan that the COVID-19 lock-down will be lifted from 12.01am, Tuesday 27 April, it is important that all netball participants are aware of the restrictions that will remain in place for community sport in the Perth and Peel regions until 12.01am, Saturday 1 May.
These include:
- Continue wearing a mask in public, while at work and on public transport unless exemptions apply e.g. vigorous outdoor exercise.
- Professional and community sports, including training, permitted but without spectators.
- 20-patron capacity limit and 4sqm rule for public venues such as recreation centres.
Further clarification is being sought on indoor venues and any updates will be provided as soon as possible. Until then, full training and games should only resume on outdoor courts.
Netball WA Associations in the Perth and Peel regions are also advised to liaise with their local government to ascertain if they have any additional requirements regarding updated restrictions.
Regional travel restrictions will be removed, but restrictions on travel to remote Aboriginal communities remain in place.
Anyone in an unaffected region who has been in Perth or Peel since 17 April must comply with mask-wearing requirements until 12.01am, Saturday 1 May.
The netball community is urged to remain informed via the State Government’s COVID 19 Information and Advice website and continue adhering to all Netball WA hygiene protocols.
It's encouraging news that outdoor games and training can resume without spectators, so please stay safe and follow the health advice and we can look forward to welcoming back spectators as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Simone Hansen
Chief Executive Officer
