Leading this year’s honours were Jenny Cristinelli and Kate Price, who both received the Service to Sport Awards, for their exceptional commitment over many years.
Ms Cristinelli’s involvement in netball spans an extraordinary 48 years, during which she has played a pivotal role in the development of the sport throughout the Great Southern region.
Her contribution has extended across playing, coaching, mentoring and administration, underpinned by a strong focus on inclusive participation, facility development and athlete pathways.
Ms Cristinelli said she was honoured and privileged to be acknowledged with the Service to Sport Award.
“Netball has been my life and sport has been such an integral part of rural communities and part of your culture. You played sport, you volunteered your time, it was handed down from generation-to-generation and we just love it.
“There is a large amount of people that do so much work for netball in general so to be awarded this I am very respectful of everybody.
“We’ve got great people behind us throughout the region and I am speechless.”
Ms Price was recognised for her more than three decades of dedicated service to netball. A respected leader within the Swan Districts Netball Association and broader community, Ms Price has contributed extensively as a player, coach, mentor and committee member.
Her commitment, experience and willingness to give her time have helped strengthen the sport at multiple levels, leaving a lasting legacy through the people and initiatives she has supported.
Ms Price said: “The award demonstrates the value of volunteers that we have in netball.
“I am pretty honoured to have received it because I know lots of other volunteers that have received this award and they do amazing jobs.
“To have someone talk about the countless aspects of netball that you are involved in is pretty surreal. You just keep doing what you’ve been doing and there’s lots of facets that we’re involved in and we give back to the sport that we all love.”
