The campaign runs from 25 November (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) through to 10 December (Human Rights Day) each year.
The 16 Days in WA campaign takes its inspiration from the global 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence.
In October, Fever captain Jess Anstiss joined other athletes from the State’s top sporting teams to ‘pledge their part’. This commitment, alongside other sporting bodies, will help to build a culture of respect, standing up for safety and calling out violence whether it shows up on or off the playing field.
Jess spoke on behalf of the sporting codes in attendance and said she is committed to playing her part in this important campaign.
“I urge all sporting bodies and athletes to use their platform to spread the message and try to stop family and domestic violence.”
Netball WA staff members will attend 16 Days in WA campaign events throughout the next two weeks, sharing their support wherever possible.
Fever athletes will wear orange during their training sessions, attend integral events and participate in social media campaigns to spread this important message to the Green Army.
