Montessori School Kingsley commenced the Netball WA Suncorp NetSetGO program at the beginning of Term 3 and have been overwhelmed with the number of students taking part. Throughout the term the number of students taking part in the program have constantly been increasing, there’s now a third of the school’s students participating. This is the first time the school has taken part in a sport program, run externally, which is designed for netball programs to be run at the school.
Suncorp NetSetGO is a fun and safe introduction to netball and is the best way for girls and boys aged 5 to 10 to have fun with their friends, keep active and learn the basic skills of netball in a safe and social environment.
Montessori School Kinglsey principal, Des Reuben has been blown away by the amount of registrations for those taking part in the program.
“Initially, I thought we would get 8-10 students, we are a school of 154 students from three to 18 years old. After we surveyed our parents it looked like we would have 20. On the first night we had 42 students turn up, last count was 45, I was amazed.” Des said.
Mr Reuben said the school is always looking for sporting programs which can engage the students by helping them learn new skills, increase fitness and coordination and integrating all year levels to participate together.
Netball WA General Manager of Community, Liz Booth said it is encouraging to see schools look at external sporting programs to encourage children to participate in exercise as well as having fun.
“We are really pleased with the response from the staff, parents and students at Montessori School Kingsley who have encouraged their children to take part in the Suncorp NetSetGO program and that the children are enjoying it.” Booth said.
