The Wembley Sports Park played host to Western Australia’s rising stars this weekend at the inaugural State Cup.
More than 60 teams took part in the three-day tournament, bringing together teams from all over WA.
The State Cup is a competition used to help identify key athletes, coaches and umpires for Netball WA’s pathway programs such as the new 14-16 years Fever in Time program.
The Swan Districts took out the Division 1 State Cup defeating Southern Districts with a five-goal win.
Fremantle were dominant across the divisions taking out three titles in 13U Division 1, 13U Division 2 and 16U Division 2.
Netball WA Sport Development Manager, Janelle Cuthbertson, said it was great to see the level of talent at the first State Cup and is excited for what the future holds for this competition.
“It was fantastic to see such a strong level of engagement with this tournament in its first year. The State Cup will play a key role in the Netball WA Athlete, Coach and Umpire pathway for both regional and metro Western Australia,” said Cuthbertson.
“We should be proud of the level of talent here in WA and I’d like to say a big congratulations to all the players, coaches and umpires that participated over the weekend, specifically the winning teams of each division.”
