A walkthrough exhibition will chronicle the dynamic evolution of netball in WA and celebrate the trailblazing women, passionate volunteers and supportive communities who helped to push the sport forward.
The display will be open to the public during the Fuel to Go & Play Association Championships from 12pm on Saturday 1 June inside the Gold Netball Centre.
Netball WA’s history will be featured on large display boards alongside a vast collection of pictures throughout the decades. The exhibition will also be home to some physical memorabilia items like uniforms, rulebooks, honour boards, trophies and shields.
Visitors to History Lane will develop a further understanding of the rich heritage of netball in WA which has inspired a new era of excellence, unity and empowerment throughout the State.
The past 100 years of both netball and women’s basketball has existed and transformed alongside a changing modern world. From fluctuating economic conditions, new laws and disruptive world events, social change, population growth and embraced diversity, netball in WA has sustained itself through it all.
Netball remains the largest female participation sport in Australia and that is all thanks to the players, officials, volunteers, administrators, and supporters who have contributed over the decades, and who will be acknowledged within the display.
The book will be on sale at the Fuel to Go & Play Association Championships for $40 inc GST.
