The Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League (GIG WANL), the State's premier netball competition, will set the scene tomorrow night for an exciting season ahead with the ‘Gold Round’.
Netball WA CEO Simone Hansen said the dedicated Gold Round acknowledges the highly valued ongoing support of GIG WANL naming rights partner, the Gold Industry Group, while making it a fun night for players and spectators.
“It’s important we recognise and celebrate the huge contribution the Gold Industry Group makes to the State’s premier netball competition, and netball across WA,” Ms Hansen said.
“The Gold Industry Group has been a wonderful supporter of the League and we’re very proud to have them on board again this season.”
Gold Industry Group Executive Officer Rebecca Johnston said the Group is honoured to be the naming rights partner of the League to ensure its growth and sustainability.
“We are delighted to support the growth of this fantastic community sport. Not only does it provide an incredible platform for participants to develop life skills but a strong pathway through to the elite.
“It’s been exciting to see the GIG WANL’s talent pathway recently deliver new West Coast Fever players in Emma Cosh and young gun Sunday Aryang, and progress the career of Donnell Wallam in the UK,” Ms Johnston said.
“We wish all players the best of luck this season and look forward to seeing the GIG WANL continue to thrive through our long-term partnership,” Ms Johnston concluded.
Gold Industry Group members behind this commitment include Gold Fields, Northern Star Resources, St Barbara Limited, Newmont Australia, AngloGold Ashanti Australia, Gold Road Resources, Ramelius Resources and The Perth Mint.
The Gold Round will feature a Grand Final re-match between West Coast Warriors and Curtin Hamersley Comets at the Gold Netball Centre (GNC).
Other Open Division matches at the GNC will see Southside Demons play East Freo Sharks and Western Roar play ECU Souwest Jets.
Peel Lightning will host Rangers at Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre.
In the Men’s Division, both games will be played at GNC with Southside Demons taking on Curtin Hamersley Comets and West Coast Warriors playing Western Roar in a grand final re-match.
All Open and Men’s Division games and selected U20 games will be live-streamed during Gold Round on the Netball WA Facebook page.
