The 2020 Gold Industry Group WA Netball League will commence on Friday July 3 and will comprise of a full set of 14 qualifying rounds and finals series.
This announcement coincides with the opening of the Gold Netball Centre where the eight WANL teams, and members of the community are now permitted to train.
The proposed 2020 season will run from Friday July 3 until Friday October 16 with Netball WA currently working through multiple fixture models including double-header weekends to complete the season within this time frame.
Netball WA CEO, Simon Taylor said early planning was key to maintaining a 2020 season for its members.
“We are excited to announce this positive news and deliver a full season fixture for our teams,” he said.
“When the community went into lockdown, we immediately went into planning for worst case scenarios to be well prepared for when the restrictions would ease, ultimately resulting in the season delayed by just one month.”
“It is also terrific teams can now take advantage of the Gold Netball Centre re-opening and we look forward to seeing them train on these indoor courts in the coming weeks,” Taylor said.
Netball WA will continue to liaise with the GIG WANL clubs, with fixtures to be released next month in accordance with the government’s Phase 3 of easing restrictions.
The Gold Netball Centre is open to the public for training sessions. To book contact GNC on 9380 3717.
