Match of the Week: Roar bound for Finals

In the last round of the GIG WANL home and away season, Western Roar maintain their top of the ladder position, defeating East Freo Sharks 76-42.

Quarter One

Sharks were slow to start, losing possession of their first centre pass and allowing Roar to take an early lead.

Not a team to go down without a fight, Sharks took advantage of every turnover to bring the score to a draw.

Wayward passes were Sharks’ demise in their goal third, giving Roar the turnovers they needed to take a six goal lead going in to the first break.

Quarter Two

Roar were unstoppable in both attack and defence forcing Sharks to work hard for every ball.

Roar’s speed and accuracy saw them extend their lead to 22 goals.

Quarter Three

Sharks were unable to evade Roar’s tight defence in the centre court, with passes going through hands and out of court.

Roar’s shooters were unstoppable, nailing shots from anywhere in the circle. They dominated the court leading Sharks 56-30 in the second half of the match.

Quarter Four

Roar’s stamina is unmatched in the final quarter with all players running hard for every ball.

Sharks find some consistency in the goal circle but were unable to catch up to their opponents.    Roar closed the game with a 34 goal lead.
