A successful weekend for the Western Roar saw the club take wins in all three GIG WANL divisions to sit atop all three ladders.

The Open Division featured a number of close contests in an exciting round of netball as the GIG WANL season approaches half way.

The Roar Open Team eclipsed the Comets 53-48 as both sides were battling for top spot on the ladder. A strong 18-11 second quarter performance for the Roar proved vital as the Comets tried to claw their way back, making small inroads in the second half.

The result leaves the Roar, Comets and Demons all on five wins, separated only by percentage.

Rangers were able to edge past the Warriors by two goals thanks to an inspired comeback performance, after trailing by six leading into the final term. Georgia Pitt scored 42 Goals at 87.5 per cent to help carry her side over the line.

Lightning recorded their first win of the season over the luckless Jets with a six-goal win. Peel raced out of the blocks to take a seven-goal lead after the first quarter and controlled the contest.

In the Men’s Division, the Roar and Warriors continued their successful campaigns with big wins over their respective opposition.

Roar were helped to their 23-point win by tournament leading Goal Scorer Max Denholm who scored 53 Goals at 98 per cent.

The Warriors bookended their dominant 59-32 display against the Southside Demons wining both the first and last quarter by at least 10 goals to cement second position on the ladder.

In the 20/U Division, the Demons climbed above the Sharks to second on the ladder after a comeback 49-43 win.

Despite being down by five goals at the first break, Demons immediately flipped the script, taking the second quarter 16-8. Chelsea Cook’s accuracy under the post was instrumental, leading the scoring with 36 goals from just 39 shots.

The Rangers took their third win of the season against the Warriors, winning 45-38. With only a single goal lead at three quarter time, Rangers put their foot on the throttle to bring home the win and build out their lead.
