GIG WANL Round 11 Wrap-up

Southside Demons and Curtin Hamersley Comets went head to head on Friday night with Demons coming away with a narrow 59-54 victory. 

Quarter One

A swift start to the first quarter by Demons, gaining an early 3 goal lead. 

Comets were shooting accurately but unfortunate turnovers against them proved costly.

Comets made a comeback late in the first term, leading by one goal going in to the first break.

Quarter Two

Comets started with the momentum, putting Demons on the backfoot. 

Demons defended well in the circle, keeping Comets’ shooters locked down.

Transitioning well from offence to defence, Demons flip the scoreboard, leading 27-26 at half time. 

Quarter Three

Demons kept the pressure up in Comets’ goal circle, forcing Comets to make some dangerous passes. 

Both teams were extremely well matched, neither able to take the lead. 

Demons broke away in the final minutes of the third quarter, leading by three goals ahead of the final term. 

Quarter Four

Comets were quick to start the final contest, reducing the margin to a tie. 

Demons managed to turn the game in their favour with two successive goals. 

Demons ran away with the game, finishing on a five goal lead.

Open’s

Roar, Warriors and Jets found victories against their opponents Rangers, Sharks and Lightning.

 

Roar V Rangers: 69-38

Warriors V Sharks: 47-43

Jets V Lightning: 60-40

 

20U

Sharks, Comets, Roar and Lightning were winners in their round 11 matches.

 

Sharks V Warriors: 68-37

Comets V Demons: 42-37

Roar V Rangers: 59-48

Lightning V Jets: 70-48

 

Men’s

Round 9 of the Men’s competition found Warriors and Roar defeat their opponents Demons and Comets. 

 

Warriors V Demons: 56-42

Roar V Comets: 60-39
