In what is shaping up to be a highly competitive season, the GIG WANL ladder has once again shifted, with the Demons stealing top spot.

Lightning 51 defeat Rangers 49

The Rangers came out firing in their clash against Lightning, establishing an early lead thanks to their relentless defensive pressure and the accurate shooting of Myra Ugle and Emily Cramond who was outstanding under the post. Lightning struggled to find their rhythm in the opening quarter, with missed opportunities allowing Rangers to take control. Myra Ugle once again stepped up when it mattered most, sinking the goal that tied the game at 36-36 at the end of the third quarter. In a dramatic final term, Lightning found another gear to claim victory, ending Rangers’ hopes of securing their first win over Lightning since 2024 in a match that showcased determination, skill, and outstanding netball from both sides.

Sharks 61 defeat Jets 42

Jets stayed with Sharks in the opening quarter and trailed by just one goal, but the match shifted after the first break as Sharks found their rhythm and took control. From that point, Sharks won every quarter, with Aisha Morcombe leading the way in attack and finishing with 45 goals, her highest individual score of the year. Jets continued to experiment with different shooting combinations across the court, but they were unable to convert their opportunities into the scoreboard pressure needed to challenge Sharks.

Demons 52 defeat Roar 50

Demons and Roar went head-to-head in a thrilling contest, with both sides matching each other goal for goal throughout the opening half. Roar’s shooters were impressive under the post, while key intercepts from their defensive end of Eva Petkovich and Annabel Saggers helped keep the pressure on. Despite the tight battle, Demons took a narrow 26-23 lead into halftime.

Roar lifted in the third quarter, winning plenty of possession and applying strong pressure across the court, but Demons’ defensive unit stood firm to maintain their advantage. In the final term, Roar’s Sophia Lamers continued to shine with strong hands and accurate finishing, setting up a tense finish. However, Demons held their nerve in the closing moments to secure a hard-fought 52-50 victory. The Demons now jump the Roar on the ladder to take top spot, a coveted position which will likely be up for grabs again throughout the season.

Warriors 65 defeat Comets 44

Warriors and Comets were evenly matched in the first quarter before Warriors kicked into gear and pulled away as the game went on. The high-volume shooting of Zoe Harper again proved difficult to contain, with her 51 goals playing a major role in the result. For Comets, Aitaua Enari was a strong presence in the shooting circle and finished with 32 goals, but Warriors’ sustained pressure across the remaining quarters saw them claim a convincing 65-44 win.
