Recognition and celebration were at the forefront of First Nations Round, with all eight GIG WANL Clubs joining together for one of the most beloved rounds on the calendar.

West Coast Warriors athlete Scarlet Jauncey and Rangers Men’s player Tobiasz Miller delivered a beautiful Acknowledgment of County as every Club stood side by side to listen.

Each game was played with the 2025 NAIDOC Ball designed by Noongar woman Tieralee Johns. The design represents First Nations players coming from the North with red colours, blue for the coast and green for the Great Southern region.

Fremantle Sharks 77 defeat Souwest Jets 42

The Sharks newfound form served them well with a 35-goal win over the Jets.

The Sharks mid-court Numi Tupaea, Jessica Reppacholi and Indiana Squiers were a force down the court and provided crucial options around the circle.

Their shooting end were all consistent and high scoring with Sophie Eastaugh (28), Kasey Ridout (26) and Mwai Kumwenda (23).

The Jets had a high rotation of players entering the court, and too many unforced errors to match the Sharks. Young gun Lily Knight was the saving grace for the team taking 28 goals for herself.

Western Roar 83 defeat Rangers 24

After their first loss last week, the Western Roar were back to their sensational selves. Caitlyn Brown’s ability to read the play and anticipate ball made the Ranger shooting end struggle. Roar’s Sophia Lamers shot 45 from 49 for herself.

For the Rangers, Aisha Morcombe (12), Emily Cramond (eight), Abbey Hicks (three) and Olivia Doyle (one) all played their hand in goals, but the side could not keep up with the reigning premiers.

West Coast Warriors 48 defeat Southside Demons 46

The most anticipated game of the round was no let down in a match that stayed close from start to finish.

The Warriors took an initial lead in the first quarter, but were quickly hunted down by the Demons to keep the match goal-for-goal.

The Demons Kelsey McPhee (23), Georgia Ettridge (13), Meg Gallager (seven) and Brooke Marques (three) fought incredibly hard for their side in the circle.

In the end, the Warriors ability to move the ball between the Jauncey sisters, feeding through Honey Harrington and Tierra Miller has becoming the winning play, with Jamaica Jauncey scoring the final two goals to solidify their win.

Comets 52 defeat Peel Lightning 48

Despite the tight loss, Lightning’s Chelsea Cook (39) continues to dominate in the circle, especially with the tough job of facing Comet Mia Henderson in defence.

After a third quarter fight back from the Lightning, the Comets solidified their win in a strong final term, with their shooting end of Jasmah Haywood (31), Sloan Burton (15) and Madeleine Ash (six) breaking through in the final five minutes.
