The GIG WANL 2024 Finals Series kicks off on Friday night and is shaping up as a showcase of just how tight the League has been this season.

Qualifying Final: Western Roar v Hamersley Comets

There is no closer and more entertaining battle across the competition than the Roar v Comets rivalry.

Roar finished last season as the Minor Premiers but went down to the Comets in both the Qualifying and Grand Final.

In 2024, Roar has showcased pure dominance, finishing the regular season as the undefeated Minor Premiers and beating Comets during both their face offs.

Keep an eye on Roar’s shooting end as the Comets defenders Liz Dronfield and Ashlee Unie focus on limiting the League’s leading goal scorer Sophia Lamers. Lamers potent combination with Emma Putt drives Roar’s ability to put teams under scoreboard pressure.

Both sides mid courts will be tested as Comets Lindal Rohde, Georgia Morgan, Clara Wigley and Chloe Harrison will be looking to outrun and outsmart Zoe Cransberg, Brittany Turnbull, Cleo Kenny and Maddie Hunter from the Roar.

Cransberg has been in devastating form of late whenever she takes to the court including an SSN appearance for West Coast Fever and two MVPs for the Fever Reserves in recent week.

The winner of the match will move straight through to the Grand Final, while the loser will get a second chance in the Preliminary Final.

Fremantle Sharks v Southside Demons- Elimination Final

It’s a do or die match for the Sharks and Demons in the Elimination Final to decide who will get a chance to extend their season beyond week one of finals

The Sharks have sat comfortably in third place across the regular season, four wins and 11 points above the Demons in fourth.

Although the gap between the two sides on the ladder is significant, the Sharks have a track record throughout the season of tight finishes and close calls. Eight of their 14 regular season games have finished with margins of less than five goals.

The Sharks have beaten the Demons in both their meetings this year, coming out on top by four in Round One and six in Round Nine.

The Demons goalers Meg Gallager, Nikala Cox and Ashleigh Cupido will be tested by the strength of the Sharks defensive end of Ruth Aryang, Jessica Penny and Indiana Squiers.

The Sharks shooting end of Georgie Cleaver, Sophie Eastaugh and Larrissa Harrisson will have their work cut out for them against the Demons’ defence of Chanel Gomes, Abbey Hanley and Alexandra Holdcroft.

The Elimination Final will be streamed live and free on Streamer from 8pm
