The new High Performance Pathway has seen developing athletes in the West Coast Fever Reserves and West Coast Fever Futures benefit from increased coaching, off-court services and education.
The project commenced in May 2025 and the funding will assist the development and the delivery of the program for two years.
General Manager Performance and Pathway Sara Francis-Bayman said the new program allows developing West Australian netballers access to the same facilities as West Coast Fever contracted players.
“One of the biggest benefits of our new High Performance Pathway Program is that it is run out of the Gold Netball Centre and allows our developing athletes access to West Coast Fever SSN contracted players which fast tracks their development, creates a strong club culture and strengthens our WA talent pathway,” Ms Francis-Bayman said.
“The opportunity for players to train side-by-side in a club environment, using the same facilities and support staff fast tracks their development and strengthens our WA Talent Pathway.”
Fever Reserves coach Guy Keane said the impacts of the programme are already being shown.
“One of the biggest indicators of the program’s early success was our performance during the 2025 Super Netball Reserves competition, where athletes directly involved in the pathway were able to taste premiership success last July.
“We will also see the benefits of the program throughout the Super Netball Reserves season, which commences this week with our athletes being better prepared than ever before, after being immersed in a full time training environment since November.
“The program was also a catalyst for another impressive performance by Western Australia at the National Netball Championships, resulting in a fourth place finish for our 17s team and nine athletes selected for National Pathway Programs, an increase from the previous year.”
