Demons took care of fifth placed Rangers 64-55 who were desperate for a win to stay within touching distance of the top four.
The top of the table side raced out of the blocks taking out the first quarter by six goals.
Despite the Rangers’ best efforts which saw the side win the final term and Goal Shooter Georgia Pitt score 33 Goals at 92 per cent, they couldn’t overcome the Demons’ momentum.
Elsewhere in the Open Division, Sharks won a tight encounter with Lightning 52-48 in Mandurah.
After a cagey opening term, Sharks pushed ahead in the second quarter, scoring 18 goals to Lightning’s nine.
A strong start for the Sharks was enough of a buffer to hold off a fast-finishing Lightning side who won the second half by eight goals.
The game leave the Sharks fourth on the ladder, three wins clear of the fifth placed team. While Lightning stay in the hunt for their second win of the year.
Demons 20/U couldn’t replicate their open side’s success with a shock loss to the Rangers.
The sides could not be split in the first quarter but from then on in it was one way traffic with the Rangers stamping their authority on the game.
A stellar 59 Goals from Emily Cramond spurred her team to success as her side won the final two quarters by 10 goals each.
Sharks, Comets and Roar all had big wins in their 20/U games as they all consolidated their top four positions with the Roar staying undefeated and locking in their finals spot.
The second week of the Men’s Rapid Round saw an upset win for the Comets over second placed Warriors 38-31.
Warriors got off to a fast start, taking the first quarter by five goals but from then on Comets had momentum.
They took all three remaining quarters with Corey Goss scoring a match high 24 goals to propel his side to victory.
The win was the Comet’s first triumph over one of the top two sides this season and leaves them just two wins behind the Warriors.
Despite a valiant effort by the Demons, it was the Roar’s week once again taking out their game 43-28.
The undefeated team raced away to a seven-goal lead at quarter time and sharp shooting by both Max Denholm and Tom Gorman ensured their team never looked back.
Roar kept their opposition to less than 10 goals in each term as they romped to their eighth win without a loss in the season and now have a six-point buffer to second placed Warriors.
Next weekend GIG WANL will celebrate First Nations Round with all matches to be played at Gold Netball Centre on Sunday 28 May.
