West Coast Warriors shooter Donnell Wallam has been crowned the 2019 Jill McIntosh Medallist.

Wallam finished just one vote ahead of teammate Stephanie Cooper in a thrilling count, securing the highest individual honour in the Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League (WANL) with 16 votes.

Proof of the consistency of Wallam’s season, she recorded votes in seven of 12 games, collecting maximum votes in two of those.

Winning the Jill McIntosh Medal caps off a fruitful year for Wallam, who finished the 2019 season with a league high 777 goals, Team of the Year selection and a premiership; a game where she was named Grand Final MVP.

Wallam was also named Players’ Player of the Year at the awards ceremony.

Netball WA General Manager of Community Netball, Liz Booth, congratulated Wallam on her first Jill McIntosh Medal.

“It’s always exciting for a player to win our game’s highest honour for the first time and Donnell thoroughly deserves this accolade,” Booth said.

“While individual achievements are often secondary in team sports, I’m sure this recognition will mean a great deal to Donnell and is testament to her hard work and the passion she has for the game and her club.”

The West Coast Warriors completed a successful night by claiming Club of the Year honours, while Head Coach Lorraine Ward was named the Coach of the Year, Kellie Baker named the Best and Fairest Award in the 20U and Ron Winter named Best and Fairest in the Men’s Division.
