The Australian Samsung Diamonds arrived in WA yesterday, ahead of their fourth test against the New Zealand Silver Ferns in the Constellation Cup.
The game, held on Sunday at West Coast Fever’s home, RAC Arena, is expected to be an entertaining battle. The Ferns currently lead the series 2-1.
A seven-day break between games three and four has allowed time for Perth fans to meet the Diamonds through a variety of opportunities.
Last night, the Diamonds brought International netball to Fevers’ home training ground – the Gold Netball Centre, hosting a training clinic with a group of 14-16 years olds who won their spot through a Netball Australia competition.
It was an exciting experience for WA’s up and coming talent, with the Diamonds challenging the groups netball skills through a series of activities.
The Diamonds will hold an open training session on Friday evening at the Gold Netball Centre. More than 1,000 fans are expected to attend the sold-out session.
Netball Australia CEO Marne Fechner said that the home test in Western Australia will give thousands of fans the opportunity to see netball’s greatest rivalry, live in person.
“We know how passionate Perth netball fans are in supporting their team the West Coast Fever, epitomized by RAC Arena holding the record for the highest attendance at a domestic league netball game at last year’s Suncorp Super Netball Grand Final,” Fechner said.
The fourth test of the 2019 Constellation Cup will be the first time the Diamonds have played in Perth since 2015 and netball fans are expected to pack the stands for the thrilling match between two elite teams.
The Constellation Cup will be awarded to the winner at the conclusion of Sunday’s match.
