West Coast Warrior Simona Di Filippo has capped off an amazing maiden season in the Gold Industry Group WA Netball League by claiming the Jill McIntosh Medal.

In a dramatic vote count, Di Filippo was tied with Fremantle Sharks Defender Jessica Penny on 14 votes with one round remaining.

Penny polled two votes in the second last game of the season before Di Filippo polled three votes in the final match to claim the medal for the League’s best and fairest player in the Open Division.

Di Filippo, who crossed over from Victoria ahead of the 2026 season, said she was honoured and incredibly grateful to win the Jill McIntosh Medal.

“I have moved from Victoria this year to play netball in the GIG WA Netball League and the League and environment has been nothing but incredibly inclusive and supportive, especially the Warriors through this whole process,” Di Filippo said.

“I am just incredibly grateful and very, very surprised to be winning the Jill McIntosh Medal for my first season in GIG WANL.”

West Coast Fever Training Partner Scarlet Jauncey was judged the Open Division Players’ Player, while Demons pair Jordon Webb and Ethan Michael shared the Men’s award.

Rising star Amelie Markovic from Western Roar was awarded the 21/U Best & Fairest and Players’ Player Awards.

Fever Training Partner and Australian Kelpie Dravyn Lee-Tauroa won the Men’s Best & Fairest.
