The Southside Demons have held off Rangers in their Gold Round clash to remain undefeated after four games of the Gold Industry Group WA Netball League 20/U Division.

In a tightly contested game, the undefeated Demons recorded a 48-45 win however, Rangers will be buoyed by the fact they played with plenty of heart after trailing by five goals at quarter time.

Rangers came out firing from the onset with a short-lived early lead. Demons turned the play around midway through the first quarter, capitalising on the long ball into Goal Shooter Chelsea Cook and converting two consecutive goals within the last 30 seconds to lead at quarter time.

Keen to tighten the gap, Rangers amped up their defence in the second quarter which saw plenty of back-and-forth through the centre third as both teams struggled to break through.

Demons were assertive, widening the margin to seven goals at one point with Hayley Evans providing plenty of contest in the circle. Rangers turned the play around and a penalty shot after the whistle kept them within touch as they went to half time trailing 24-20.

The third quarter was high-scoring and electrifying, with both sides delivering cleanly into attack.

Rangers brought on Emily Cramond into Goal Shooter, who was instrumental in providing new energy on court. Rangers were eagle-eyed, converting plenty of turnovers and increasing defensive pressure to bring the scores even with five minutes remaining.

However, Demons recovered with plenty of contest and long balls down the line to lead by three goals at the final break.

A nail-biting final quarter saw both teams hungry for the ball and desperate to assert control as they provided an excellent contest in the circle with every rebound becoming crucial to the outcome.

The margin was only two goals for much of last half of the quarter however, Rangers could not find a way to get in front and Demons kept their perfect start to the season with a three-goal victory.
