It’s the Grand Final that no one saw coming; Curtin Hamersley Comets and West Coast Warriors will go head to head to be named the 2020 Gold Industry Group WANL Opens Champions on Friday night.

After a winless season in 2019, the Comets have come back firing and fought hard throughout the finals to claim a much-deserved opportunity to take the top spot in 2020.

Curtin Hamersley Comets Captain, Sarah East said her side is feeling confident heading into the grand final on Friday night.

“We had two really tough games in the Semi and Preliminary Finals but winning those has boosted our confidence,” said East.

“We are excited for training this week and absolutely pumped for Friday night!”

The Curtin Hamersley Comets will take on an almost flawless West Coast Warriors who will be looking to take back-to-back championships.

“We will need to work really hard in our mid court to shut down the feed into Wallam and focus on our defence in the circle and structures across the court,” said East.

If any team is up for this challenge, it is certainly the Curtin Hamersley Comets. Looking back on the 2019 season, East said not a lot has changed but the team had been focusing on their strengths.

“As a team, we have a better understanding this season of our structures and with some new players, our coaches have been developing phenomenal game plans.”

“Each week we have been sticking to our strengths and only tweaking our game plan slightly, depending on our opponent.”

The 2020 Gold Industry Group West Australian Netball League Open Grand Final will be held this Friday October 16th at 7pm at the Gold Netball Centre along with the 20U and Men’s grand finals.

Entry to the Gold Netball Centre on Grand Final night is $15 for adults and $10 for concession.
