After a three-week break, GIG WANL was back and better than ever last night, each team more keen than the next to set themselves up well into the second half of the season.

Southside Demons 58 defeat Rangers 37

The Demons came out of the gate firing, the second placed team no doubt searching for crucial points.

Captain Chanel Gomes was consistent in her pressure and ability to feed, providing valuable options down the court.

Abbey Hanley was another strength of the Demons defence, stopping the ball before it could get to the Rangers shooters.

After an already dominant first half, the Demons came out in the third quarter and continued to put up the points, leaving them 20 goals ahead at three-quarter time.

The Rangers Grace Jooste was crucial, finding intercepts and turnovers that her squad just couldn’t build on.

Comets 40 defeat Peel Lightning 37

After the Easter break the Comets sat in fourth whilst Lightning sat in fifth, a fight that was close from start to finish.

Clara Wigley continues to be a shining light in the Comets mid-court, never letting Lightning’s Charlotte Moreschini time to rest.

Liz Dronfield was on the body and quick in Goal Keeper, finding a turnover and quickly changing momentum to the Comets.

The lead swapped over multiple times, with Lightning up by as much as six in the third quarter only for Comets to fight back quickly.

Comet Sloan Burton was able to put her side back into the game with 18 goals for the game.

Lightning’s Chelsea Cook was sensational, taking 35 goals for herself with an incredibly high accuracy.

Comets were able to push that extra mile in the final moments to get over the line.

Sharks 69 defeat Souwest Jets 45

A very determined side last night, the Sharks were motivated for that win and took an immediate lead.

The 21/U captain Hayley Jones played up and held her own in the mid-court.

The current goal scoring leader for the 21s Lily Knight also played up for the Jets and slid in easily with a fantastic 18 goals to put her on par with Rylee Hall.

Shark Kasey Ridout was outstanding with 44 goals, cementing the sides win alongside Sophie Eastaugh’s nine.

The Sharks strong structures helped them maintain control from start to finish.

Western Roar 45 defeat West Coast Warriors 44

The Warriors almost did what hasn’t been done in over a year, take down the unbreakable Western Roar.

The Warriors led the first and fourth quarter, with a very strong mid-court of Honey Harrington, Tierrah Miller and Gardenia Asiata.

Jamaica Jauncey was once again a force, with 33-goals for the match.

Despite missing Zoe Cransberg and Caitlyn Brown, Roar were still able to put up a fight and push through. The Kenny sisters were fast and fierce in the mid-court,  and the Sophia Lamers (30) and Asha Parsons (15) continues to go from strength to strength.

Watch the replay for Round 7 of 21/U Demons v Rangers and Open Comets v Lightning on Streamer.

Round 8 kicks off on Wednesday, 30 April.
