Community netball has been given the green light from Netball WA for players to return to full contact training and for associations to commence competition in this state.
This announcement is in line with the State Government’s Phase 3 of their COVID Roadmap, which takes effect from this Saturday June 6.
Netball WA will support clubs and associations through this transition, including the development of new guidelines to support the resumption of full contact training and competition whilst maintaining a safe and healthy environment.
Netball WA CEO Simon Taylor said it was important to make sure the procedures and protocols to return to competition were done correctly so that the clubs and associations can enter the planning stages for competitions.
“This is fantastic news, I’m sure parents, players, coaches, the whole netball community is eager to hit the courts and start playing matches,” Taylor said.
“We have been working closely with the State Government to inform clubs as quickly as possible, so they have time to prepare for the start of competition,” Taylor said.
“We don’t expect all clubs and associations to be ready for competition to commence this weekend, some may take place a couple of weeks later, but we are here to support players, coaches and staff as we aim to get the season back on track.”
Phase 3 of the State Government’s COVID Roadmap includes a resumption of full contact sport, both training and competition, both indoor and outdoor and allows gatherings of 100 people, or 300 people for those venues that can have divided spaces.
