With only one goal in the game heading into the final quarter, the Comets looked set to take home the win when they were up by three in the final few minutes. However, an errant Comets pass that flew over the midcourt boundary gave Roar a chance to equalise.
This was promptly converted by Roar as scores stayed neck and neck with a few minutes to go. Scores were level with 35 seconds left on the clock and the Comets had the centre pass.
They held up play well and eventually found shooter Jamaica Jauncey who after being fouled put through the winning goal with the last play of the game.
Roar got off to a strong start in the game, scoring the first five goals as the Comets struggled to keep up.
The Comets composed themselves quickly and brought scores back to seven goals apiece.
The rest of the game remained close, with neither side able to forge a large enough lead to run away with the game.
20/U Final Score: Comets 47 defeated Roar 46
Open: Roar 52 defeated Sharks 44
Coming in as favourites, Roar began the game well and capitalised on some inaccurate shooting from the Sharks.
With a six-goal buffer after the first quarter, Roar stumbled in the second. The injection of Rose Aryang at Goal Attack worked well for the Sharks as her energy and effective leading in the circle worked wonders.
The shift got the Sharks to within two goals at half time but after the main break Roar flexed their muscles.
They pushed out to a seven-goal lead midway through the third quarter and that stayed the lead heading into the fourth quarter.
While the final 15 minutes were close, Roar dominated the midcourt, regularly pulling off eye catching intercepts to quell any chance of a Sharks comeback.
The Roar will now face the Comets in the Grand Final in a rematch of the Qualifying Final which went to sudden death after extra time.
Men’s: Warriors 58 defeated Comets 46
Warriors immediately got the upper hand in their game as they were able to restrict the Comets’ offensive circle of opportunities under the post.
After the second quarter, the Warriors were up by 12 goals thanks to a dominant midcourt and an ability to find the hands of Matthew Brown (39 Goals at 87 per cent) and Jerome Gillbard (19 Goals at 90 per cent).
With a sizeable lead, the Warriors held the margin for the rest of the game and prevented Comets from getting any momentum.
The win ensured they could go into the Grand Final with full force as they face up against the Roar.
