Demons suffered their first defeat in 10 GIG WANL matches against the Comets, who knocked off the top of the table side leaving the Open Division with the top three teams on 20 points.

Despite a tight tussle in the first quarter, the Comets were able to push their lead forward in the second term, winning it by seven goals and extending the lead to 16 before the final break.

Not even West Coast Fever Training Partner Nat Butler could get her team back in it with 19 Goals from 20 attempts as Comets’ Shooters Sloan Burton and Aitaua Enari scored 23 and 31 Goals respectively.

Jordan Cransberg helped her team to victory in Wing Attack as the game finished 68-52 and saw the Comets leapfrog the Demons into second position.

Roar dominated their game to snatch the top spot in the Open Division as they beat the Warriors 68-38.

It was a four quarter performance for the Roar who raced out of the gates and kept the pressure up for the rest of the game.

Thirty goals from both Sophia Lamers and Georgie Cleaver helped the Roar who outscored the Warriors by more than 10 Goals in both the second and third quarter.

In the 20/U Division, the Comets and Demons played out a thriller in a seesawing game which ultimately went the way of the Comets 49-47.

Both teams won two quarters of the game but neither side could get too far ahead of the other.

After being down by three at half time, the Demons flipped the script and went into three quarter time ahead by four.

The Comets were determined to not let the game get away from them came out firing in the last quarter and brought scores level with 10 minutes left to play and the close match.

The victory gives the Comets some breathing room in the top four and are now two wins away from the fifth-placed Rangers and only need one win from the last two games to lock in their spot in finals.

Both the Sharks and the Rangers secured wins in their games as they are on either side of the finals cut off.

The Sharks, in fourth place, got a big 65-42 win over the Jets in Eaton thanks to a dominant first and fourth quarter.

Back in Perth, the Rangers got the spoils over the Lightning 73-30 as Goal Shooter Emily Cramond scored an eye-watering 49 Goals. The Rangers are now fifth place, just one win away from the Sharks.

The sides will face each other on the final week of play which could be a do or die clash to reach the semi finals.

In the Men’s Division, the Comets gave the Roar a scare when they fell agonisingly short of a big upset as the score finished 50-47.

A strong opening three quarters were enough for the Roar to hold off the Comets’ comeback and ensure they dropped back-to-back matches.

The Warriors locked in a top two spot with a resounding 68-39 goal win over the Demons. A strong start for the Warriors meant their opposition was never in the contest as they matched the Demons’ final score in just the first half.

The results mean the Roar will meet the Warriors in the Qualifying Final while the Comets and Demons will face off in the Elimination Final.
