Netball WA has confirmed the South West Peel Regional Championships in 2026 will be held at the revitalised Bunbury Hay Park Netball Courts, thanks to the support of the City of Bunbury and the State Government via the Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund.

Bunbury's Hay Park Netball Courts completed a major refurbishment in September 2025, including upgrades to court and lighting facilities which have enabled them to host the Championships again.

Bunbury has only been able to host the Championships once since its inception in 2019, the upgrades now providing an ideal location to host a high number of participants, officials and spectators.

The competition will run across Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June and is expected to draw more than 720 participants and officials to the courts.

The major refurbishment has also delivered modern facilities for the Bunbury Netball Association with 12 new courts that meet national standards.

Netball WA General Manager Community Beth Harvey said it was s a fantastic opportunity for Bunbury Netball Association to be able to showcase their talent on their home courts and for participants to enjoy the City of Bunbury over the weekend.

“The revitalisation of the Bunbury Hay Park Netball Courts has opened up plenty of possibilities for their netball community” Ms Harvey said.

“The South West Peel Regional Championships bring some of the best talent from the region together across the weekend, it will be great to showcase the refurbished courts and surrounds, thanks to the assistance and support of the City of Bunbury.”

Bunbury Mayor Jaysen Miguel said the City was thrilled to welcome the South West Peel Regional Championships back to Bunbury.

“The refurbishment of the Hay Park Netball Courts was about creating lasting opportunities for our community, and hosting these championships is a perfect example of what modern, fit-for-purpose facilities can attract to our City.

“Hosting more than 720 participants and officials across the weekend will be a significant boost for our local economy, our accommodation providers, restaurants and retailers. Events like these reinforce Bunbury’s position as the sporting capital of the South West, and we look forward to showcasing our city to players, families and spectators from right across the region

“I want to thank Netball WA and the Bunbury Netball Association for their partnership in bringing this event to life. It’s going to be a fantastic weekend for our City.”

The Regional Championships are a key component of the Netball WA competition framework and play an important role in the development pathway for affiliated Associations and their players, coaches, and umpires.
