Round 7 was jam packed with first wins, close games, and star performances.

Comets 58 defeated Rangers 45

The Comets came out swinging against the Rangers, leading by six goals at quarter time. Despite the loss of talented shooter Aitaua Enari, the Comets shooting dynamics are still strong, especially with Madeleine Ash’s 29 goals.

Rangers found their momentum by the end of the game, winning the fourth quarter, but it just wasn’t enough to get them over the line. Their defence throughout the game kept the margin close, with the ball often being turned over in the Comets goal circle.

Rangers’ shooting efforts were shared by Abbey Hicks with 20, Kimberley Burton with 10, Kathryn Bryne’s nine and Emily Cramond’s six, a testament to the talent of the team with so many skilled athletes in goals.

Roar 51 defeated Sharks 49

Western Roar remain undefeated this season across all three divisions, a huge effort after seven games for the 2023 minor premiers.

Roar won the first and fourth quarter, narrowly scraping through with a win. Sophie Lamers and Asha Parsons guaranteed the win in the final minute, with their 26 and 25 goals respectively upholding their undefeated streak.

Both sides were a shooter down, with Shark Georgie Cleaver (ankle) and Roar’s Emma Putt (foot) both out with injury.

Larrissa Harrison’s 26 goals and Sophie Eastaugh’s 23 were an impressive effort and kept the team in winning chances until the final minutes.

Another close game for the Sharks this season, to go down to the top team by a margin as small as two goals demonstrates their potential for the rest of 2024.

Warriors 54 defeated Demons 46

Another tough game in round 7, the win could have gone to either side until the last quarter.

The Demons were a tough opponent as they utilised the circle and their mid court in goals, but the Warriors lead in the last quarter was enough to get them the win.

Demon Meg Gallager put in a huge effort for her side with 35 goals alongside Ashleigh Neal’s nine and Nikala Cox’s two.

Warrior Jamaica Jauncey once again proved how integral she is to her team with 35 goals as well, paired with Hana Stokes 19 goals the duo could not be beaten.

Jets 56 defeat Lightning 43

A home game was just what the Jets needed to secure their first win of the season.

In front of a cheering crowd in Waroona on Sunday, the Jets came out firing in the first quarter, winning by nine and keeping that momentum when the Lightning caught up.

Jet Rylee Hall had a fantastic game with 43 goals, a well-earned win after the work she has put done in the goal circle over the season. Hall was aided by Captain Brooke Gibsons 11 goals and Bianca Grickage’s two.

Lightning found their groove during the second quarter, catching up to the Jets with Tamaii Zimmerman’s 24 goals, Kasey Ridout’s 11 and Rebecca Lill’s eight.

The Jets dominant first and fourth quarters were enough to get them over the line in an exciting first win.
