Big wins and high scores dominate Roud 9

Round 9 was a huge night for GIG WANL, with multiple athletes achieving their highest scores of the season so far, and the top four continued their winning ways.

Round 9 was a huge night for GIG WANL, with multiple athletes achieving their highest scores of the season so far, and the top four continued their winning ways.

Roar 69 defeated Rangers 29 

Top of the table Western Roar took a huge 40-goal win over the Rangers, maintaining not only top spot but their club’s perfect start to the season. 

Leading throughout every quarter, Roar’s Sophia Lamers had a fantastic game with 51 goals, her highest of the season. Lamers was assisted by Asha Parsons in the shooting end, who took home her own 18 goals. 

Rangers 29 goals was made up of 12 goals from Abbey Hicks and 17 from Georgia Pitt. 

Warriors 51 defeated Jets 33

The West Coast Warriors had a great Thursday night, achieving their biggest winning margin of the season so far, 18 goals over the Souwest Jets. 

Warrior Jamaica Jauncey shot an individual 32 goals alongside Hana Stokes 13 and Emily Dwyer’s six. 

Despite the large margin, the Jets did manage to win the last quarter, demonstrating to the competition to never rule the side out. 

Jet Rylee Hall earnt herself 23 goals, with Brooke Gibson and Bianca Grickage both scoring five. 

Sharks 65 defeated Demons 59

The Fremantle Sharks managed the closest winning margin of the round, beating the Southside Demons by six goals. 

Shark Larrissa Harrison achieved another huge score, with 42 goals, her record to beat for the season. Harrison worked alongside partner Sophie Eastaugh’s 23 goals. 

The Demon’s work was shared between Meg Gallager with 23 goals, as well as Nikala Cox’s 22, Ashleigh Cupido’s 11 and Georgia Ettridge’s three. 

Comets 58 Defeated Lightning 37 

A 21-goal win for the Hamersley Comets over the Peel Lightning guaranteed the side’s eighth win for the season. 

Lightning fought hard against the second placed team, applying enough pressure to beat them in the third quarter by three. 

Lightning’s shooting duo Kasey Ridout took home 32 goals and Rebecca Lill aided with five. 

The Comets winning shooting trio consisted of Madeleine Ash with 36 goals, Giselle Taylor with 12 and Emma Cosh with 10. 

GIG WANL has a quick turnaround between rounds this week, with Round 10 kicking off on Tuesday 13 May. 

Round 10 is not just any round, in partnership with the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, Tuesday night will be “Belt Up Round” in promotion of the message of the importance of wearing seat belts.
