The Fuel to Go & Play Association Championships return this WA Day Long Weekend, the biggest netball event in the State.

The Championships will take place from Saturday, 30 May to Monday, 1 June and is expected to see more than 15,00 people enter the gates of the Gold Netball Centre and Matthews Netball Courts.

The weekend-long carnival won the Community Sporting Event of the Year at the WA Sport Awards in February and has become a crucial part of developing athletes in the Netball WA pathway.

More than 320 teams have registered making over 40 divisions from as far as Singapore.

Netball WA General Manager Community Beth Harvey said the excitement was building leading into the long weekend of netball.

“Players, coaches, umpires, officials, volunteers and netball lovers mark this weekend in their calendar each and every year and we are excited for the competition to get underway,” Ms Harvey said.

“We will have more than 320 teams playing across the weekend with some making the trip from the far reaches of Western Australia and a group of teams from Singapore also travelling down for a big weekend of netball.

“Our Fuel To Go & Play Association Championships prides itself on inclusion and being an event for everyone. This year is no different 13 teams will take part in the No Limits Division plus two Boys Divisions which is extremely exciting for our sport.”

The carnival has become a key talent identification process in the Netball WA pathway as well as one of the biggest platforms for boy’s netball and No Limits participants talent.

Members of the Green Army who are competing across the weekend will also have plenty of opportunities to Feel the Fever with the last home game of the season at RAC Arena on Saturday.

Merchandise stands will be operating every day, and Fever players will be doing a signing session on Sunday.

Participants and spectators will also have the opportunity to engage with the many Netball WA partners activations across the weekend, with plenty of prizes to be won.

“Netball WA would like to thank our generous partners who support us during the biggest weekend of netball on our calendar. To Heathway, promoting the Fuel To Go & Play message, whose assistance means we continue to deliver the best community sporting event each year for our participants,” Ms Harvey said.

Thank you to our other key partners who support the Fuel to Go & Play Association Championships, the Gold Industry Group, Fortescue, the Insurance Commission of Western Australia promoting the Belt Up campaign, the Department of Creative Industries Tourism and Sport, the Town of Cambridge and the Perth Netball Association.
