The 2021 netball season has officially kicked off for the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community following the success of Aboriginal Youth Gala Day at the Southern Districts Netball Association on Sunday, May 16.
In its 13th year, the Aboriginal Youth Gala Day saw 34 teams play off in five divisions, with teams travelling from as far as Katanning to represent their grassroots sites.
Included in the Aboriginal Youth Gala Day was a NetSetGO Division, with five teams showing off their skills and proving that the future is bright.
Along with hosting the carnival, Southern Districts Netball Association was represented by 10 teams across the five divisions and tookout the 12under division grand final over Kwobardak Yorgas.
The Aboriginal Youth Gala Day also served as a wonderful platform for off-court education with a series of service providers attending the event.
The day was supported by Principal Partner the Gold Industry Group and major partners Healthway promoting the Fuel to Go and Play message, the Insurance Commission of Western Australia, promoting the Belt Up message, the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries, the University of Western Australia and VenuesWest.
