The Aboriginal Development Academy concluded their 2025 program with a Tri-Series competition over the weekend.

The Academy athletes have been meeting fortnightly to receive coaching, mentoring and personal development opportunities as they work towards achieving their full potential, both in netball and in life.

The Netball WA participants faced the South Africa Netball Club and WAKA Netball Club in a range of games across the morning, culminating in a 14/U and 17/U grand final.

WAKA took home the 17/U grand final following a morning of competitive matches. The Academy Team gave their all, never giving up against a strong side and showing cohesion and defensive pressure developed from their weeks of training.

Lavendah Davis earnt the Most Valuable Player for the 17/U Academy team after an impressive performance in the grand final. Shirlina Loo-Wallis was awarded the Leadership award for her natural leadership on and off the court throughout the program.

In the 14/U division, the grand final had spectators on the edge of their seat. The Academy Team were leading throughout majority of the game, with tight connections down the court into the shooting prowess of Jonni Ockerby.

In the final moments, South Africa fought back hard, pushing themselves ahead. With seconds on the clock, Academy were able to level the score, but it was one final goal by South Africa that guaranteed them the grand final win.

For the 14/U age group, Kayleigh Howard was awarded MVP for Team 1 and Savannah Garlett for Team 2. The Leadership award was given to Chevy Graham and Tallara Fitzgerald.

A special thank you to Fortescue for your support of the Aboriginal Development Academy.
