The 2026 GIG WANL First Nations Round was once again a night of celebration of culture and the talented First Nations athletes that make up the Netball WA community.

Souwest Jets 55 defeat Rangers 43

Souwest Jets celebrated their first win of the 2026 season in style, claiming a 55–43 victory over Rangers in the broadcast match. The Jets came out strongly to open the contest, building a six-goal lead in the first quarter and maintaining control throughout the game. Lily Knight starred in just her third Opens appearance of the season, delivering a remarkable 50 goals in her highest-scoring performance of the year. Souwest remained the dominant force across all four quarters and were rewarded for their relentless effort with a well-earned win.

Southside Demons 62 defeat West Coast Yongkas 61

The biggest game on the First Nations calendar saw West Coast Yongkas and Southside Demons celebrate the rich history of First Nations athletes, with Demons edging out a thrilling 62–61 win. Demons took the early advantage, but the Warriors responded with a strong third quarter to work their way back into contention. An even final term kept the contest on a knife’s edge, and although the Warriors produced three straight goals late, they fell just short as Demons held on for a one-goal victory.

Fremantle Sharks 51 defeat Peel Lightning 42

Fremantle Sharks continued to prove they are one of the competition’s most consistent sides this season, securing their fourth win with a 51–42 result over Peel Lightning. Aisha Morcombe led the way in attack with 36 goals, well supported by Kathryn Bryne’s 14, as the Sharks controlled the match for most of the evening. Fremantle led in every quarter except the last, when Lightning mounted a late push, but the Sharks had already done enough to seal another important victory.

Western Roar 50 defeat Comets 40

In the grand final rematch of the season, Western Roar claimed a 50–40 win over Comets after making a strong start to the contest. The night also marked a milestone for Comets’ Sloan Burton, who celebrated her 100th game. Roar’s Sophia Lamers starred in attack with a game-high 38 goals, helping her side build the momentum they needed to control the match. The victory lifts Western Roar into second place on the ladder, sitting behind Demons on percentage.
