After 14 hard-fought rounds, the GIG WANL regular season has come to a close.

The Western Roar have once again finished as the Minor Premiers, taking out all three divisions in another mammoth year for the Club.

Comets 69 defeat Rangers 50

Sadly, for the Rangers, their season ended without a win after going down by 19 to the Comets in Round 14. Abbey Hicks was the sides key shooter with 28 goals as the side managed to match the Comets in the final quarter.

Jasmah Haywood scored her highest of the season, taking home an impressive 55 goals. An incredibly strong first half from the Comets was enough to guarantee their spot at second on the ladder.

West Coast Warriors 59 defeat Souwest Jets 37

Warriors led through the entire game to guarantee their place in finals. Jamaica Jauncey (34) goals, Emily Dwyer (15) and Beryl Friday (10) were solid and quick in goals. In a change to their defence end, Taylor Finch and Amber Jamieson were held down their opposition.

After an impressive season under the ring, Jauncey was the second highest goal scorer in the Open division for the regular season, finishing on 489.

The Jets will be proud of their improvement following the end to their season, with improvement to their ability to keep close with the top teams. Young gun Lily Knight came on in the second half for 14 goals, Lily Gilsenan took 10, Meretini Fuimaono with four and Hayley McKee.

Western Roar 54 draw with Southside Demons 54

The Southside Demons proved they are going to be a force to be reckoned with in finals, drawing with the reigning premiers and keeping them to almost identical scores throughout the match.

Roars Sophia Lamers and Demon Kelsey McPhee scored an even and impressive 41 goals each. It was Lamers who scored the final goal with 30 seconds remaining to lift Roar and even the scores and she finishes top of the league for goal scoring with a total of 524 throughout the regular season.

Fremantle Sharks 58 defeat v Peel Lightning 47

The Sharks have ended their season with a confidence boosting win over the Lightning. Kasey Ridout had another high scoring game under goal with 41 to her name, joined by Sophie Eastaugh’s 12 and the injection of youngster Aval Bell with five.

The Lightning held on for the first half of the game and goal responsibility was shared throughout the team. Chelsea Cook (26), Rebecca Lill (15), Marene Peyper (four) and Kate Kimberley (two) all had their turn. The side just could not keep up with the Sharks third quarter lead.
